Alan Varela is a former professional footballer who spent time at FC Porto during his career. During this period, he played for the club's first team and was part of their success in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Varela began his professional career at FC Porto in 2011 after being signed from Benfica. He made his debut for the club in a match against F.C. Paços de Ferreira on November 27, 2011. In his first season at Porto, Varela made 38 appearances and scored two goals.

In the following season, Varela continued to impress with his performances and was named as one of the top performers in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He also helped Porto win the league title in 2013-14.
